| Now & Laterz |
The Now &Laterz are a multitalented music production duo that crosses genres and language boundaries. Born and raised in Long Island City, Queens, New York Ben Grimm and A.B.E. have been producing since their early teenage years. Influenced by the mid 90s sounds of their Queensbridge neighbors and the rest of New York City’s hip-hop history, they started honing their craft and made their rounds in the NYC hip-hop scene. They began producing tracks for local legends including Nature, Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Bars & Hooks, Nas' Bravehearts, N.O.R.E., Royal Flush, ODB, Tragedy Khadafi and up and coming stars like, Saigon, Remy Ma, Lakey The Kid, Maino, Uncle Murda, and TrifeDa God. They later hooked up with friend and mentor Boy Wonder who introduced them to Latin hip-hop and Reggaeton. They were later brought on board as in-house producers for his then fledging label Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment. In 2005 the NOW & LATERZ earned their first PLATINUM plaque from their work on Boy Wonders Chosen Few El Documental. This was the first ever Reggeaton documentary and soundtrack. The Now and Laterz also contributed to El Draft, an American Idol type of competition for new Latin Hip-Hop and Reggeaton artists. Both albums reached TOP 10 on the Billboard Latin charts. El Documental peaked at 2 and El Draft 4. In addition, El Documental received a LATIN BILLIBOARD AWARD for "Reggeaton Compilation Album of the Year". In 2006 the N&Lz success continued with them producing the majority of songs on Chosen Few El Documental Part II. Working one on one they crafted hits with Latin artists Alejandro Sanz, Pitbull, and Zion y Lenox. The highlight of their work on El Documental Part II is the 15 minute opus performed by the “Chosen Few All Stars”. All proceeds from this recording were donated to amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research). The Now &Laterz are also building their own empire, developing artists and working on their independent album. |
